It's Christmas Time!

I had a completely lovely time shooting with the most adorable kids in their living room. This was the first time I had a shoot with children and christmas lights. I wanted to have the lights in the background to give it that christmas time feel! I think that I captured exactly what I wanted to with this family and it was a great experience. I had never shot in a client's home before, but I found that with the children, it worked very well! Thank you to this amazing family for letting me photograph their children.

The "W" Family Mini Session...

It was a bright sunny day shooting with the "W" family! This family is extra special because their 3 babies are beautiful, happy, and energetic canines! I have never photographed dogs before, other than the occasional photo of my own dog, Chase. It was a very interesting shoot but the dogs behaved beautifully and it was so much fun! I loved working with this family, it was a little out of my comfort zone, but I am so glad I had the opportunity to work with them!

Then we got some photos of just the happy couple....

Hapi...

I could tell that Hapi had a lot of modeling potential just by looking at her photos. She has not done a lot of modeling but she definitely impressed me with her look and how well she took direction.

We met up to do a sunrise photoshoot, just for fun, and Hapi was there and ready to go at 3:30am! What a trooper!!

Here are just some of the shots we got that day...

Caitlin...

Caitlin drove all the way from Wisconsin just to work with me last night! I really appreciate people with that kind of passion. If someone likes my work that much, I am definitely going to shoot with them. We had a fun time! Caitlin is a sweet girl that has awesome style.

I LOVE my Alienbees Beauty Dish and grid!

Not too long ago I got the Alienbees 22" white beauty dish and a 30 degree grid for my AB800 (I only have this one light). The beauty dish is a beautiful light modifier on it's own but adding the grid narrows the beam of light from the strobe so that I can finally create images with a lot more shadows. I can also have more control over how much light that will fall on the background.

I know a lot of you out there are shooting in small spaces and do not have access to large studios. In small shooting spaces it is hard to keep light from flooding the background, but not with the 30 degree grid! I use the Beauty dish and grid to add diversity to my images and to experiment with new ways to light my subjects while still shooting in the same small room that I have always shot in. It is a huge benefit to me to finally be able to create images that have a completely different look and feel to them!
